Guided garden and gallery tour:
Explore the rich world of art at Sentosa Janda Baik, a heartfelt project initiated by a couple deeply devoted to the realm of artistic expression. With their personal passion for art curation, Sentosa Janda Baik is now proud to house three distinct art galleries, each residing within charming traditional wooden structures. These galleries serve as a dynamic showcase, preserving and perpetuating the founders’ artistic legacy.
Islamic Gallery:
Discover the captivating story behind our Islamic Gallery, a distinctive masterpiece meticulously crafted by skilled carvers in the 80s. Constructed from ‘cengal’ wood with intricate traditional carvings, the gallery stands as a testament to the artistry of its time.
Within these carefully carved walls lies a treasure trove—a private collection of Islamic artifacts and artwork. The curated pieces predominantly originate from the Nusantara region, offering a rich tapestry of Islamic heritage. From historic artifacts to contemporary expressions, each exhibit narrates a unique tale, inviting you to delve deep into the diverse and profound world of Islamic art.
The Great Grandfather’s Gallery:
The Grandfather’s Gallery holds a significant place in Sentosa Janda Baik’s history, originally being the residence of the founder’s grandfather from Kerdau, Pahang. This cherished family home, steeped in memories, was carefully dismantled and thoughtfully reconstructed at Sentosa Janda Baik in 2006, a labor of love to preserve the family’s rich heritage.
This unique gallery is a treasure trove, offering visitors a glimpse into the past with its extensive display of traditional tools, cooking utensils, furniture, and gardening equipment. Every item within the gallery tells a story, weaving together the threads of bygone eras.
Beyond its physical artifacts, the Grandfather’s Gallery serves a noble purpose—to provide a tangible connection to history, allowing visiotrs to traverse the corridors of time. It is a deliberate effort to educate and instill an appreciation for heritage preservation in the hearts of younger generations. Step into the Grandfather’s Gallery and embark on a journey that transcends generations, capturing the essence of a bygone era and the enduring spirit of family legacy.
The White Gallery:
The White Gallery has a fascinating origin as it started its journey as an abandoned house in Kelantan, Malaysia. In a meticulous restoration project during the 90s, the house was dismantled and reborn at Sentosa Janda Baik, preserving its historical essence.
This dynamic space serves a dual purpose at Sentosa Janda Baik. Primarily conceived as a rotational gallery, The White Gallery is a dedicated platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents. It also houses a remarkable private collection, featuring Orang Asli sculptures that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Malaysia. Additionally, the gallery boasts an extensive assortment of mother and child sculptures, crafted from an array of materials, offering visitors a unique and diverse artistic experience.
